Food Truck

2012

In March 2012 the restaurant suffered a devastating fire and was forced to close down for renovations. Instead of focusing on the negative we moved on, and decided to build a Lucille’s concession trailer in August 2012. With many friends and clients (Grumman 78, Pas D’Cochon Dans Mon Salon, Winneburger) already involved in the Montreal “streetfood” movement we decided to hop on board. Our goal was to primarily do events (Just for Laughs, Western Festival St-Tite, Osheaga) and hope that eventually streetfood would be legal in Montreal. Our menu was focused: lobster rolls and ribs, the two staples on our restaurant menu.

In September 2012 we increased our fleet and purchased a stunning Meadow Creek smoker / bbq on wheels.

2013

After a lot of hard work, successes and failures in 2012 we learned a great deal about the food truck business. In the spring of 2013 we heard the great news that the Ville-Marie borough of Montreal was launching a pilot-program legalizing food trucks in certain sectors throughout the city. The bad news was that they would not allow concession trailers in the pilot program. We reacted quickly and purchased the Lucille’s food truck. Now with a concession trailer, smoker/bbq and food truck we were fully equipped to handle all events, streetfood, and catering opportunities.
